Tony V - Sound engineering I've always had an interest in music and photography. Going back several years I started to pursue photography as more than a hobby. That's about the same time I met the guys in South Street. I actually used them as my first professional photo project. During this time I had also been hanging around with Carl LaPlant who is well known as a sound engineer in the New England area. He was working with Beatlejuice, The Fools and other local musicians. One thing lead to another and before I knew it I was doing photography for these bands as well as helping with the sound. Somewhere along the line a call came from South Street who was interested in updating their sound and equipment and I was in the right place at the right time. We started working together in late 2002 and have been together since. Most of what I've learned about sound engineering came from live hands on perfomances and coaching from people like Carl and the guys from South Street. I did study at BC for a period of time but that is a story for another day. It has been and continues to be a great relationship working with Souht Street. As any sound man will tell you there is a constant battle between the sound of the stage and the front sound usually driven by the musicians need to compete for volume while playing. I can honestly say the musicainship in South Street makes my job very easy. The guys never have a problem with volume control on the stage and completely trust my judgement. Working with South Street now for almost 4 years I have found a home. As long as there is a crowd, a place to play and South Street you can find me standing out in the room doing my part to bring you a professional sound. I would like to take this opportunity to thank a few people who have helped along the way. Carl LaPlant for teaching me the basics and giving me a chance. To South Street for having faith in my ability and keeping me around for a while. I would like to thank my new wife and best friend, Denise for all her support and to the BEATLES for doing what did for music as a whole. I have always been and always will be one of their biggest fans. Maybe someday I'll get to meet Paul McCartney and the rest of the band. |
