| SOUTH STREET has been around since 1989 with only 3 member changes. Former SOUTH STREET members include. DAN LEBLANC and BILL SAUNIER currently of UNDER PRESSURE. RAY MARCOUX was the original bass player. SOUTH STREET has performed over 50 shows a year for the last 6 years. It's current members combine for an actual 126 years of musical playing. No we aren't as old as you think we just started young We have performed 23 weddings in the past 5 years of which only 4 were actual old fashioned traditional weddings. Most people booking the band for weddings just want the "GOOD OLD FASHION IN YOUR FACE" party. July 2005 year # 3 of the Jamaica trip and Bill and Jay are off again for another dose of craziness. As always it's all about the party and the food. What happens in Jamaica stays in Jamaica. YEAH MAAAN October 2005 SOUTH STREET launched it's 1st website. We would like to thank Mike L. for his help getting us off the ground Tony, the sound man, gets engaged. He said he would only get married when they added a month between June and July. I don't know what it was his fiance, Denise did but we all agree it changed Tony's calendar!!! Novemebr 2005 Bill, the big guy in the middle, finds out is going to be a GRANDPA. He is expecting a grandson sometime in early June 2006 or should we say his daughter in law is expecting. April 2006 The Brickyard is finally open and we get our first gig there. Tons of people. What a club this is. Finally the Gardner area has a cool place to party. MAY 2006 The new website was launched and is currently still under construction with new pages and information, games and photo's being added daily. June 2nd 2006 Bill became a Grandpa. Christian weighed in at 8lbs 15.4 oz and was 21" long. He has more hair than Bill June 17th 2006 we had a bachelor party for Tony. It was good to get the band together outside of the club scene. Lots of antics a laughs. June 2006 Ricky's surgery went well and he is expected to make a full recovery. The doc said they fixed what was wrong with him. Now we just need to get him to stop whining. July 8th 2006 Tony ties the knot with Denise. A great time was had by all. THE SILVER CITY BAND put on a great show and even let SOUTH STREET play a couple tunes in our mildly intoxicated state. July 2006 Jay and Bill returned safely from Jamaica. Bill received a nomination to the senior council which will be voted on during next years outing October 2006 has the drummer spending a good portion of his time exploring the benefits of being part of a couple. This isn't new territory for him but it has been a while since we have seen him this taken. Maybe this is it. Sorry ladies November 2006 was the month Jay and his family left Gardner for good. They moved a few towns away. Now he rubs in the fact that he doesn't have to drive as far to get to the shows. We think he misses Gardner but he'll never say so. December 2006 the weekend right before Christmas Al Girouard from the band RUFF CUTT joined us for the show. It was a good thing too. During the second break Bill's Marshall AVT 150 amp blew up. Al saved the day by getting Bill a spare from his store. How often does that happen January 2007 the band joins BostonBands.com and is looking into launching a MySpace page. March 2007 the band performs a benefit for PATTY KREIDLER in Fitchburg at the British American Club and helps another local family raise money for a good cause. The final tally is $5000 June 2007 brings us back to Williams Tavern for the first time in almost a year. The crowd was great and it was really good to be back. It is still a little crowded on the stage but we managed. We even got the crowd up on the dance rug after they moved a few tables out of the way. July 2007 sends Jay and Bill back to Jamaica for the annual trip. Once again they survived but remember little about the adventure. Three mystery guests made the trip this year for the first time. John, a Vietnam river rat, was by far the most entertaining. He has been sir named the TENT MASTER. August 2007 the band does a benefit for a family who lost a child in a freak accident. The benefit was held at SAIMA PARK. As always SOUTH STREET is glad we were able to help out. September 2007 the band goes through a major change. Mike Anthony, the keyboardist, is replaced by Ken Farnham. Ken's first show is at Williams Tavern. The crowd response is favorable and Ken is officially the newest member in a band that over 17 years has only had 3 member changes. Also be it known that Ken also makes the trip to Jamaica and has been going for almost 15 years. October 2007 the band is booked solid for 2008 with only 3 available dates. The summer vacation is set. New years will be at Singapore and from January until June 3 of the 4 band members will be spending their time gearing up for the annual trip to Jamaica. This year is sure to be am interesting one. October 19th while playing at Chopstocks, Bill takes a nose dive onto the stage while coming back from a little dance number with some of the patrons. Bill misses all the equipment and manages not to break any bones but his guitar is toast. Rich Thorpe from THE SILVER CITY BAND is in the crowd and runs home to get one of his guitars to bail Bill's ass out. The show goes on as planned after a short pause and all is well THANKS RICH 2003 and 2004 FUN FACTS AND HISTORY ARCHIVES |
